| HALT/HASS Testing Machine
EMTEQ owns and operates a HALT/HASS machine capable of rigorously testing our products, from design through production, to ensure durability and reliability. HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) is utilized during the design phase of the product to work out any weaknesses in the design before moving into production. Products are exposed to conditions well beyond their operating environment to find these weaknesses. Standard tests include temperature (hot and cold), vibration, and a combination of temperature and vibration. |
|
HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screen) is used during production to identify potential process and vendor problems from weaknesses in the manufactured product. This typically involves a combination of vibration and temperature tests, and does not significantly shorten the life of the product.

EMC Test Chamber Also in operation at EMTEQ is an EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Test Chamber - a solid wall sealed anechoic chamber designed primarily for testing conducted and radiated emissions. The chamber is designed to meet or exceed the specifications described in Sections 20 and 21 of DO-160E and Rev F. |
The chamber is constructed from double-sided metal laminated panels, and fully sealed against intrusion of RF energy. The access door utilizes a double knife-edge seal for a reliable barrier against RF energy. All power entering the chamber is sent through line filters to avoid any RF entering the chamber through the EUT (Equipment Under Test) power.

The EUT ground plane is 3x8 feet, and conforms to the specifications outlined in Section 20 of DO-160:

Rapid Prototyping
To make our design processes run more efficiently, EMTEQ has invested in a 3D printer capable of printing intricate, durable product models directly from 3D CAD files. The material used to create these prototypes is a production-grade thermoplastic called ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), which is almost as durable as a production part and is able to be tested the same as a production product. Prototypes are checked for fit, form and function, and are able to be drilled, tapped, sanded and painted.
